The Wine

The history of Languedoc wines can be traced to the first vineyards planted along the coast by the early Greeks in the fifth century BC. Along with parts of Provence, these are the oldest planted vineyards in France.  Sample some of our fine vineyards, or take a leisurely trip along the Canal du Midi, sipping along the way.  You can find tastings at many of our local wineries, such as Chateau de Pennautier, or arrange a guided tour with one of our local tour guides (ask about seasonal suggestions).

Nearby attractions include the Musée des Beaux-Arts (700 m), Place Carnot (450 m), Basilique Saint-Nazaire (1 km), Cathédrale Saint-Michel (329 m), Château Comtal and the city ramparts (1 km), Pont Vieux (1 km), Église Saint-Vincent (474 ​​m), and the Canal du Midi (700 m).
